I had the pleasure of dealing with Kirby Hays at Cook Roberts recently for a divorce. Kirby and her team took care of everything for me from dealing with my Ex husband to making sure all paper work was filed correctly and in a timely manner. Divorce is not an easy process to deal with and I greatly appreciate her professionalism and knowledge to get this done.

I called this company back in May with a time sensitive issue and was told they would call me back right away. I was very pleased, as the person on the phone was very thorough and helpful. I was then discouraged when no one got back to me. Upon follow up, I was told someone would get back to me. Again, no one did. One star for poor communication and unreliability.

I have had bad experiences in the past with lawyers not returning calls, responding to emails, overbilling, crappy advocacy etc. Come to think of it, I am not sure I have ever had a lawyer that was 'worth it'. He responds promptly to what are likely annoying requests, even in the evenings, weekends and when on holiday with his family. His rate is more than reasonable, and I would dare say he is not charging enough for the level of service he provides. We had the unfortunate problem with someone that didn't pay their bill, and initiated proceedings as self-represented litigants. Mr. Hamilton was more than willing to provide unbundled legal services, and guide us through the complexity of the Supreme Court of BC. When we retained him directly to perform our Examinations, he grasped the essence of our messy file in no time flat, and knocked those examinations out of the park. A truly talented lawyer. When we had trouble paying our bill, Mr. Hamilton and Cook Roberts graciously went out of their way to make arrangements that worked for us - and continued to provide service! I dare you to find a law firm anywhere that will do that, or lawyers that care about your legal issue more than the fees they can get out of you.
