I worked at Smart Savvy and Associates for 3.5 years. To this day, I think of them as one of the best recruitment agencies out there. Smart Savvy's difference is that the recruiters come from \the industry they recruit for\ i.e. they were not recruiters to begin with. So, they truly understand the role, your skills and aim to create the best fit possible. Even to this day, as I moved onto client-side, I have used them when needing to find fantastic talent for hard-to-fill roles. Also - the President of the company, Peter Reek, is the best human you will ever meet !
Overall, my experience with them was okay. I applied for a role on their website, spoke with a recruiter twice. One for a quick chat and another one that was an hour long just to dig deeper into my skills and career history. I did find that hour chat was beneficial for me to review what I’ve done in the past so I can use it for other interviews I was doing. However, I am disappointed that I never received a follow-up email or even a response to my follow-up thank you email. We aren’t just a sale, we are people too and we deserve to be respected and treated like humans. It’s so simple to follow-up and respond to an email. Even if you’ve decided not to represent me for a position, it’s better to know that then to be ignored. In the end, I didn’t need this recruiting firm to help me find a job. I was able to find one at a better company and better role altogether, on my own. I personally wouldn’t go through them again just due to the no response or follow up email. Especially when I thought I made a good, friendly, and genuine connection with the recruiter.
