My wife retained this firm to administer an estate. She signed a retainer agreement that contained the hourly rates to be charged by the firm's lawyer and legal staff. The firm issued three invoices that contained no details of the amount of time spent on each task or the rates charged by its staff. When the third invoice was issued, the total of all three invoices appeared too high so we sought further details of the billings. We then discovered that we had been billed substantially higher hourly rates than those listed in the retainer agreement. The lawyer only admitted the mistake after we provided our detailed calculation and she was largely unapologetic. Although she provided what we felt was only a partial refund for the overcharge, we were left feeling uneasy about the whole experience.
