Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon was the first Canadian Chapter and the first chapter outside of the United States. Since 1983, we have granted over 2,100 wishes for children in our region. With your help, we will reach every eligible child. The BC Chapter was founded by Nigel Brown and Robb Lucy who were inspired by a TV story on Make-A-Wish America’s launch in Phoenix in 1980 and decided to start up the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Canada. Armed with zealous enthusiasm, personal credit cards and a large network of friends, they set to work granting their first wish – providing a young woman named Debbie with a trip to Germany to meet her grandmother. Sadly, Debbie passed away shortly after her wish, but the concept endures to this day.
