It was a wonderful adventure in art having my beloved fish plate restored by Naoko Fukumaru. She was responsive and professional in the business arrangements and also outlined the kintsugi process clearly which helped me understand the value of her services. Above and beyond that, her work is precise, elegant, and beautiful. I love my fish plate more than ever thanks to her contribution. Cathryn Gregor, April 2021

I have traced Naoko everyplace she has worked in the past 20 years. I believe she was born to be an artist. Environment she grew up is near perfect: ancient city, Kyoto and her family business as an established antique business of generations. She had tremendous opportunity to nurture her in early age. Her natural talent and her desire to achieve high quality works have been reflected on her works whatever she did. I have no doubt that she will continuously do great works with Fukumaru Ceramic & Glass Art Restoration.

Naoko put together a cherished gift plate. It was fine porcelain. She did an amazing job and had to point out where the joining took place! Highly recommend her!!

It was a like a miracle to discover Naoko after shattering our beautiful antique Japanese vase on the floor. Who would ever have imagined it could be restored!? Naoko was super-friendly throughout the entire process and communicated regularly with us during each step. I really appreciated how she takes every project as a sort of symbol of life, that no matter how tough things can get, with patience and love the pieces can be put back together, possibly becoming more beautiful than they were before. We are thrilled to have our vase back and to have associated for this short time with Naoko. Many thanks to you, Naoko. Don and Patricia

People break things accidentally from time to time. Unfortunately, not every pottery item can be easily repaired. I broke my wife's favourite mug and couldn't fix it by myself, so I decided to find a professional whom I could trust such an important task. As it turned out, there are not so many places in Vancouver area where you can get your pottery repaired. One of pottery stores that I contacted recommended to reach out to Naoko Fukumaru due to the complexity of work. That's how I discovered Kintsugi technique and a professional kintsugi artist Naoko. We agreed on terms and conditions, and due to the complexity of fixing this particular item, I received a reincarnated mug after six weeks, just as it had been discussed at the beginning. The end result has exceeded expectations and my wife is more than happy with the second life of her favourite mug. I highly recommend Fukumaru Ceramic & Glass Art Restoration and Naoko Fukumaru in particular if you want to bring a piece of art back to life or fix your favourite mug in a very aesthetic way.

What a pleasure to do business with Naoko! She repaired/restored a pottery bowl of great sentimental value for one of our customers and we couldn't be more pleased with the results! From the first point of contact Naoko provided excellent consistent communication with an outline of costs and explanation of each stage of restoration, and the service to hav the bowl repaired was done in an amazingly short period of time. We are more then pleased to recommend Naoko!

The process of creating our floors is complete. What began as tinted cement, was acid washed, then sealed. Over time some cracks in the cement formed - we had been advised in advance that it would happen - very wabi-sabi (embracing imperfections). It's been about 1 year now and the final step we determined was to apply the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi (usually done with ceramics) to the cracks. Naoko Fukumaru is an expert in this art – the outcome is stunningly beautiful! I highly recommend her creativity, skills, and patience!

Naoko is incredibly skilled, detailed, and passionate. She puts astounding love and care into each piece and goes above and beyond by wanting to understand the story behind each piece she works on. Highly recommend.
