Heritage value Edgett Building was build in 1910-1911. This historical landmark of two buildings connected by the unique bridge that joins this Edgett Building with building previously known as The Daily Province Building/which is a home for Vancouver Film School. The Edgett Building is significant for its association with its original owner Francis L. Carter-Cotton. Carter-Cotton was a well-known local publisher of the News-Advertiser newspaper, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Minister of Finance, and Chief Commissioner of Lands and Works. Carter-Cotton was also the first chancellor of the University of British Columbia (1912), first chairman of the Vancouver Harbour Commission (1913) and a founder and charter member of the Vancouver Board of Trade.
