The College also administers a number of quality assurance initiatives to ensure physicians remain competent to practise medicine throughout their professional lives. The College is governed by the Health Professions Act, and the Regulations and Bylaws made under the Act. A board comprised of 10 peer-elected physicians and five public representatives appointed by the Ministry of Health are responsible for the governance of the College. Amy Allison.... The College's decision not to discipline Dr Albrecht on his delinquency and untruths is disappointing and unacceptable. Protecting the public from Physician's who lie and misrepresent is the College's mandate and its decision implies that anyone with a medical background can state that they are Doctors with no ramifications or accountability. To clarify, Dr Albrecht did not state to my colleague and myself that Ms. Parhar was a Physician Assistant but rather a Doctor. Dr Albrecht had not given me the \impression\ as the College states, that Ms. Parhar was a Doctor, he had unequivocally told me and my colleague so on 2 separate occasions. Ms. Parhar herself also stated this to both of us. The College's lack of disciplinary action demonstrates their inability in taking Dr Albrecht's lies and misrepresentation as well as Ms. Parhar's unqualified, impermissible administration of local anesthetic seriously and is contradictory to the College's mandate. Why does the College even exist? Why not simply provide the mandate in relation to the complaint, allowing the public to decide whether there is delinquency and when so move forward with litigation as it is clearly evident the College is incompetent in policing themselves. How dare the College turn a blind eye at their obligation to discipline people who are calling themselves a Doctor whom are not, the citizens of BC deserve better. Mark Petty

This very important organization is responsible for holding physicians accountable for the care we all trust in so blindly. I made a general inquiry into how to make an official complaint and they were very helpful. I have to respect their position as vestibule to my concerns while adamant that they are independant and impartial.

Protected by the Canadian Medical Protective Association's 1.8 billion dollar war chest, of mostly tax payer money. This college does as it pleases, regardless of the law in my opinion. This self-regulating college refused to answer my questions about the complaints process when I called on multiple occasions. Instead, transferring me to a recording. Which instructed me to leave a detailed message, and someone would get back to me. No one ever did. My written complaints were submitted via courier, and signed for by staff. The complaints then went missing. The Chief Registrar refused to investigate the loss of the documents. My follow-up complaint against the Chief Registrar for obstruction and breach of trust were immediately dismissed by her friends. This self-serving college has demonstrated a compete lack of respect for the Health Professions Act in my opinion. I do not recommend wasting your time and money filing a complaint with them. As the outcome seems to be pre-determined in my opinion.

Absolutely useless organization like most governing bodies. Called to inform them that a walk-in clinic near me is using used urine specimen containers. There has even been complaints on google from others too about the issue. Potential health risk to others and contaminated tests. The collage didn't care unless I went through the whole formal written complaint process. What is this the 1980's where they can not take a complaint over the phone where it is recorded or online?????? Really it is 2019. Age of computers and cellphones lol. Good Job collage for failing the public once again in protecting them. Let use an outdated process that can take weeks to months to protect someone's life. talking to their receptionist is like most governing bodies. Robot with a script. She didn't care that there is a health risk to the public from a walk-in clinic. All she cared about is that it had to be written. If anyone has medical issues with used urine containers in Burnaby let me know. I informed the Collage they didn't care it is on them now.
