Really love their food! Great portions and size and very tasty! The assortment of hummus is the best. I really hope they can open up again.

The place itself has a casual vibe, and is honestly a little hard to notice from the outside unless you're specifically looking for it, but the food is amazing. Before visiting this place I had never imagined there were so many kinds of hummus! Highly recommend their spicy and original hummus and their saffron rice!

An easy 5 stars. This place's focus is savory (and extremely delicious) bowls of hummus and middle eastern food. You could probably choose from a menu here, but I never do — if you're indecisive you'll likely end up having your bowl filled by a random assortment of saffron rice, mushrooms, meats, salads, a rainbow of hummus, and more. The cost of a bowl ends up being 12 for most and 11 for vegetarians, and is very much worth it either way. Ahed is informal and friendly.

I ordered group platters last August for pick-up and oh boy was it delightful! Did not get to take pictures because we just dived in and devoured all the food! We had the colorful all-savoury Hummus platter, Veggie platter, Meat platter and chickpea rice. All came with pita and garlic sauce. You can also customize their platters. I am already craving for it while writing this review mmmmmmmm

A friend jokingly called this place “Mediterranean Chipotle”, and to be honest, they’re not too far off. It has all the trappings of a fast casual joint but not only are the people nice, but the food always hits the spot. With hummus flavours ranging from yam, olive, walnut, pesto, pomegranate, and regular hummus among others, there’s something for all taste buds. A bowl here consists of three scoops of hummus, your grain of choice, a protein of your choosing, salad, and a mix of sauces. It may not look like much, but the servings are surprisingly hefty and very satisfying. The owner seems very receptive to feedback and really cares about the place, so that’s always nice to see (this is owned by the same family that’s at the helm of Balila on West Hastings). Eating here, you can’t help but feel you’re doing your body a favour. Everything is so fresh, healthy...it’s just so damn wholesome (and did I mention it’s affordable too?).

I dream of Balila’s hummus often and hope they come back to business one day! Incredible food that I miss very much.

Delicious, wonderful variety, and very very friendly service! We will be coming back and look forward to eating here in the future. Food is delicious, fresh, and leaves you feeling full but not heavy. Was lucky to have a taste of each meat and veggie option — they're all so good it will be hard to choose just one next time!

HORRIBLE!! I came into the store today around 5:30pm with my boyfriend, and the store was empty. I felt uneasy when I saw the food because there was a lot of small flies surrounding the hummus station. Also, the food was not covered with a lid. I did hesitate but because I tried at the Gastown location, the food was amazing. I got rice, hummus, garlic chicken and veggies (charged 5 extra for veggies!!) Plus, the lady only grab a little bit of veggies... what a RIP OFF. She also did not close the lid when she serve the food... (the way she served the food, she seems like she did not care) so there is no safe hygyne here. I noticed the kitchen sink and it was a mess. I started eating the chicken and as I looked at the meat, it seems a little pink but i wasnt sure because some part was white. I was so skeptical but did ate a little bit of the chicken. The more I looked into other pieces of chicken, there was a piece that was still PINK and RAW. Final draw! Are you SERIOUS??!!?? I approached to the lady and she apologized and offered me another piece of meat. But really? At this point I dont fricken trust the place because their other meat doesnt look appetizing at all. I asked for more veggies instead. The lady saved those raw chicken and put in a container, so she can show to the kitchen people. Not sure if shes going to show them at all because they were NOT THERE. Honestly, I would of thought she refund the money but she didnt. Well let me tell you, that DISH DID NOT WORTH 18!!! If any of you want to come and eat at this place. Please consider a 2nd thought. P.S: the lady then went outside for a smoke and we're on her cell phone, and we were just sitting inside the store... seriously? NO HEALTH STANDARD Probably will be my last time coming to Balila
