All awesome people! Teresa at the Durham office was very professional and down to earth. Both ladies that came for two days sorted, cleaned and moved so much stuff in my home. Rebecca and. Melissa were a Joy to have around. Thank you all for your work!

I was told a VHA Home Healthcare PSW for my elderly mother tested positive for COVID. She had contact with my mom on January 22nd . I was notified Feb. 4th - almost 2 weeks from the date of potential transfer of the virus. I spoke to the PSW Supervisor who said it was a procedural error and normally family are notified sooner. No apology whatsoever. This is not acceptable.

Update- From my conversation with the supervisor, it was made very, very clear that your company policy is not to ask nursing staff returning from holidays whether they travelled abroad because that is seen as a violation of employee privacy. Therefore, your company won't know whether your staff followed Health Canada protocol upon their return. I contacted Toronto Public Health, who were interested in this case, and they referred me to Central LHIN.They will be getting in touch with your company shortly to review your pandemic safety policies. I am not just concerned for my own parents but for other seniors your staff look after in the community. ******* Although the professional nursing staff are nice (a star for niceness), one we know has recently travelled overseas on holidays during the pandemic without informing supervisors. The company does not see this as an issue of concern but clients certainly do for obvious reasons. The other star is for the supervisor who had to arrange for a different nurse to see the client.

I am a hardworking psw. And our free service is the best the government can do. Every service has good and bad but I stand by our psws they are out there doing what family members wont.

This company is inadequate and has no real touch on what the community needs. I will never suggest Vha to any of my family or friends. I respect the nurses and the care workers. I feel like the office and the “higher” people don’t know what they are doing. I am disgusted.
