I just finished the beginner’s class and I highly recommend this studio to anybody interested in acting or even just self-improvement in general. The Robyn Kay studio teaches the Meisner technique. Robyn Kay, the instructor, is passionate, insightful, and very knowledgeable in her craft so you are definitely in good hands. They also have a very supportive community of actors. I recommend coming to one of their Sunday drop-in sessions or audit one of the classes; this is a technique that definitely needs to be experienced first hand as it is very different from conventional acting classes. The main thing I took from this experience was that you don’t know what you don’t know and you most definitely don’t know what you’ve repressed. The Meisner technique opens you up to what is holding you back and show you what you are truly capable of as both an actor and a person. What you learn applies beyond the classroom. Full disclaimer, this is not for everyone as it can be emotionally taxing, but it’s definitely a rewarding and potentially healing experience.
