(NRT) was founded in 1927, and is North America's largest fully integrated manufacturer of industrial and automotive rubber products. The company's strategic advantage is its ability to recycle scrap rubber into commercialized value-added materials that are fully integrated into the manufacturing stream. From two facilities in Toronto, Canada, the company produces a wide range of industrial and aftermarket products from the most basic rubber sheets and mats to more complicated moulded parts like industrial tire segments. The company also manufactures over 500 automotive parts, such as fender guards, sound and vibration insulators, and air baffles. The automotive parts division represents roughly 45% of annual sales. The company is ISO/TS 16949:2009 certified and recognized as a high quality, innovative supplier to Chrysler, Ford, General Motors and Nissan. NRT has been endorsed as a world leader in the recovery of rubber for the use in automotive parts and tire manufacturing. In response to a forecast, world-wide reduction in the availability of low cost scrap rubber, the company initiated a unique, government/industry partnership to solve the problems of material supply and waste tire management. The development of the tire recycling unit and the proprietary rubber recovery technology is the result of eight years of research and development. NRT continues to invest in on ongoing research and development into the science and technology of rubber recovery. NRT operates a tire recycling facility in the Port District of Toronto, Canada. The facility has the capacity to produce over 3 million scrap tires a year. In 1995, NRT was recognized by the Recycling Council of Ontario and presented with the Ontario Waste Minimization Award, in the Outstanding Green Industry category.
