Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada Reviews | Rating 3.9 out of 5 stars (8 reviews)

Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada is located in Toronto, Canada on 158 Sterling Rd #100. Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada is rated 3.9 out of 5 in the category tourist attraction in Canada. The Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada (MOCA) is in a defining phase of its evolution, as it moves into a landmark heritage building and further advances 20 years of exhibiting, collecting and nurturing innovative contemporary art and cultural practices. The museum is currently creating a new home for contemporary art that will reflect and bolster the city and country’s reputations as stimulating places to think, create and shape the future. On September 22, 2018, MOCA will open the doors of a 55,000 square foot purpose-designed home in a former industrial space at the heart of a new neighbourhood in the Junction Triangle. It will function as an inclusive cultural catalyst where artists and audiences can step into a wider world of contemporary art, and be part of a global movement defined by new ideas and new forms. Mission Exhibit, research, collect and nurture innovative contemporary art and cultural practices that engage with and address issues and themes relevant to our times. History MOCA (formerly known as the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art – MOCCA) has been celebrated for its incisive, artist-centric approach to programming, and hospitable visitor experience. At its former location on Queen West, the museum functioned as a hub for creative exchange and played a critical role in shaping the city’s contemporary art scene. Through a commitment to collaborative partnerships with leading like-minded artists, organizations, institutions and festivals from Toronto and further afield, MOCA connected the city to a national and global network of peers. MOCA featured the work of over 1,100 Canadian and other international artists, hosted 200+ exhibitions and welcomed 40,000 annual visitors. As the lease on Queen West wound down, the need to move provided an opportunity to seek a larger space that could accommodate the museum’s ever-growing aspirations and significance. Wonderful museum in a great area! I've already really loved MOCA was bummed when their Queen street location had to close down. The new location is BEAUTIFUL! They did a great job of keeping both the industrial heritage of the building in tact and modernizing it as a museum. They always have interesting shows/installations happening and at 10.00 an adult you get a lot of brain food for your buck. The cafe is next level. Forno Cultura did right by having a lot of wonderful to go/eat in options and a super unique pantry section. Grab some cheese, oil, and wine after your trip and you're set for the night! Culture yo' self! You deserve it So ya if you wanna feel bougie without the bank hit up MOCA.

As there’s limited to do during these questionable times, seeing the 2 exhibits were great! Would recommend for a weekend outing.

Very clean installs and great art. This was the perfect way to spend a few hours as the museum is very concise.

Huge modern art museum, recently opened. Entrance for students around 5, adults 10. Some part of exposition you are able to touch, for instance huge cubes at the lobby. At the curve screen you can watch some art videos and short documentary movie about refugees' life. Play zone and elevators also available. Open till late. We had so much fun there.

This is a great addition to the neighbourhood offering an an accessible activity that everyone can join. There’s free lockers to store your belongings. One Sunday per month there’s free admission. It was a little busy when I visited, assuming because of free admission. The exhibit spaces are small so it doesn’t take long to visit. There’s a few activities for children available; check the website for details and schedules.

Seemingly a work in progress, that I fear may never be complete, the building is stark and more akin to a coworking space than a museum. While it may be novel to have in-house artists, as a paying spectator, I expect to see the finished product rather than the production process (a bit like sausages and cars). Set amid an austere industrial area,I’d prefer to return when things are more developed and thought-through (inside and outside the building).

Interesting installations, but really limited! Only two artists on display when we went last. Not a lot of variety.
