Stayed one night in an exec suite. Nice room. I needed to get some work done and found the desk a little small, but made out okay. Wifi was good and fast. No minibar, but a fridge, so take your own stuff. Separate room to sleep. Great mattress - very comfortable. Room service fast and food very good. My dinner was perfectly prepared. Beside Sony clock radio to charge your iPhone. The location downtown was really good and convenient. Staples just 5 min walk away and Future Shop as I needed a cable. 5 Minutes on the subway from Union Station and then a 5 minute walk from the station to the lobby. Lots of local food if you want to get out at night for a stroll.

I have stayed here many times over the years. The rooms do range from rather small to being very large for a downtown hotel. The staff are always friendly. The only issue is that the passing garage, while having a lot of available spaces, has very tight corners and involves driving down five below ground levels.

It is an old building. Located in the heart of Toronto, the only good thing about it. The staff is very rude and unprofessional. I stayed there with my husband for three days and noticed a lot of guests had similar thoughts about the staff. We asked for an extra blanket and got a shocking call back from the reception. They said, they will send security to our room, it was 12 at night, to check how many people are there in the room. They thought we asked for an extra blanket so there may be extra people staying in the room. That was the rudest and most unprofessional call ever. My husband finally lost his cool and gave the caller a mouthful. And to top it all, neither did they apologize nor sent the blanket. I will never ever stay in that hotel again.

My wife and I paid over 160/night for a room that was older than I am. The carpet was beat up and peeling off the floor; their were tiles missing in the bathroom; the bathroom sink didn't drain right and the shower was nearly impossible to adjust properly. On top of all this, there was construction going on in the room next to us and it started daily at 10am... we couldn't sleep in past 10am even if we wanted to. I will never stay here again. We travel pretty often and this was by far the worst hotel experience that I have had in a long time.

A completely adequate hotel with good rates (via Expedia) and a great location. Near the financial district and Nathan Phillips Square. Nothing too fancy, but I'll stay there again.

I was booked to stay here last Saturday and was not only dissappointed but disgusted. The staff were extremely unfriendly during the check in process, and when I informed them that they should have parking signage indicating that their lot is full, they responded rudely. The room itself was not only tiny, but disgusting. Paint was chipping, the furniture was dated and damaged, and the floor was soiled with some large / gross stains. I would not stay here if I was paid to. The bathroom was tiny as well, and very dated as well. Do not stay here. UPDATE: Carlito the duty manager, told me they could do nothing about my poor experience. He said he saw my complaint, but there was nothing he could do. After cutting me off, and being extremely rude, he changed his story. "There is no record of a complaint from you." This is the only hotel I've stayed at where the staff straight up lies to their guests.

This has got to be one of the most disgusting hotels I have ever stayed in... worse than the Orlando Best Western. Old, dirty, smelly and unkept. Don't do it!

I'm wrapping up a two-day business stay at the Metropolitan Hotel today, and I have had an excellent stay. The staff is kind and professional; a temporary glitch with my credit card at the front desk was handled with ease and courtesy. I also witnessed the staff in action during an emergency (a woman in the front lobby had an injured ankle/foot - not sure what happened) and staff members were calmly following a clear accident protocol which created a reassuring atmosphere for all who witnessed it. I was also very pleased with the breakfasts and lunches served to my business group; I had not identified myself as a vegan (and, in my experience, even if I do identify myself as a vegan, most hotel kitchens will simply shrug and provide me with a bun and some rice) - yet at the Metropolitan Hotel, I had plenty of fruit to eat at breakfast and a delicious veggie sandwich, salad, and veggie-based soup for lunch. Some reviewers below have complained about the older decor of the hotel; to me, that's neither here nor there - the rooms were immaculately clean (I've been in 'fancier' hotels that have had unsavory surprises in the bathrooms) and I slept well. The hotel is centrally located; a wonderful array of international cuisine is available around the corner on Dundas Street, and Nathan Phillips Square / the Eaton Centre is within walking distance. I highly recommend this hotel!
