Overall experience was pleasant. The store has a warm and cultural vibe with all the Japanese deco and package. Quality: the desserts are very nice in texture, especially the caramel pudding. It’s flawless smooth and creamy. Price: Its not a regular, affordable price for such a small quantity of food. However I have the idea why its not as low as other stores. Hattendo focuses a lot in packaging and marketing products, plus it is located at the China town, its reasonable. As someone already suggested, if you never try here, go ahead (I recommend the caramel pudding), but for me, it will be very long til I come back here again

A quiet store just on a quiet side street you'll find this store among other restaurants that are unique and trendy/popular with the local crowd. This store isn't too busy and at a fairly expensive bakery option, it's not unusual to be the case. Each creme filled bun is over 4 and they are small. The bun reminds me of a dinner roll. Quite frankly not impressed. However the creme filling is very good. Probably one of the better cremes I've had. Not too watery and not too heavy, but yet very flavorful. Tried the matcha green tea, chestnut, salted plum and red bean. Everything was good. The salted plum was IMO so so. Though I'm sure it depends on whether you like that flavor. Though it tasted a little like cheese to me. The store atmosphere is reminiscent of a shrine as they display a omikuji station up front (though the pieces are missing probably due to the covid pandemic).
Very well kept store and excellent buns! Very soft and tasty. Delicious!
Tasty cream filled buns. That's it. Yuzu ones are spectacular.
Cute little shop nestled along a nice stretch of secluded street. Clean premises, polite staff, nice decor and neat packaging. Unfortunately the goodness stops here. The chilled buns are nothing to shout about, expensive 3.69 (regular) and 4.19 (crispy melon) tax for one smalish bun. You probably could get similar kind of buns for 1/4 of the price at any asian bakeries ard nearby Chinatown. Bought one matcha melon bun and one regular custard cream bun. Im never a big fan of sweet dessert but the matcha filling is not sweet at all, not even a tinge of sweetness as if they forgot to add in any sugar! The custard cream is also just mediocre pastry cream lightened with whipped cream. The buns did not taste premium at all. First time here today and will be my last too. If u hv never tried it, I would say go ahead just get one bun for IG or FB but definitely not worth a repeat visit.
Amazing service went to the Baldwin Toronto location. Everything was delicious truly recommend if you like buns and creams Seriously try it out! The slushies are great as well
WOW. Go here for their Cream Buns. NOW. Soft, puffy, creamy, not too sweet, packed with flavour, filling, should I go on? 3.69 for their predominant fillings, 4.19 for their more specialty fillings. My personal favourite is their Matcha Cream Bun. I could have 4 in a sitting. These make a great gift as you can buy 6 in a cute little box for 17.69. Everyone likes pastries and these -not too sweet ones- do just the satisfying job if you’re not into sweet or too crazy of flavours. For that person in your life I’d recommend the original Custard Cream Bun!
I love these buns! Alot of the comments say its pricey then don't buy it, the price is fine to me & it's worth it, you're not gonna find anything like this anywhere else. The chilled cream is so good and seasonal flavors are always exciting to have. Unfortunately the square one location is closed since I live in georgetown but whenever I have time I'll come to the Baldwin location and buy some. Clean and nice customer service! Keep the great work you guys, I would Definitely recommend!!
