Just making an edit to my previous review (paragraph below was the initial review i had written for Food Basics). I had a different experience today. We were on Cashier Line 2 at around 8:30ish. The cashier started scanning our items and there was already one customer who had already paid but she was just bagging her items. My husband started walking towards to second belt where our stuff was going so he could bag the items. The cashier was like - "Hey! You can't go there. You have to come back. Wait till shes gone. Covid protocols". My husband came back. BUT when we were bagging our items, there was another couple who got some stuff and the guy was standing maybe 1-2 feet away from me and putting his stuff in his backpack and the cashier is standing there smiling at them and being all Have a good day! Like what the hell? Where did the covid protocols go now? And another thing which I might as well mention. I bought a box of protein bars which are usually sold single. They were 1 each and there were 16 in the box. She scanned the whole box and it showed 17. I politely asked her if it would be cheaper to scan singles. I don't think I said anything wrong but the way she started scanning the bars - I was like woah! So much attitude! And coincidently the couple behind us got a whole case of cans and she had to scan them singles and shes all giggling with them. Like really? Just because I'm brown? Is that it? Great grocery store! Fresh vegetables found here compared to other grocery stores in Timmins. You can get Paneer here which is always a must in my grocery list. The other grocery stores do not carry this item. I am able to get most of the items from my grocery list from food basics. Great people too!

If your out for a store that has most of what you need at a price that is hard to beat. Not high end but it's in the name. Also one a the few places left with actual customer service.

By far the safest place in town. The management must be very good as I am always greeted and served by friendly employees. The staff are very knowledgeable about COVID rules. These rules are very well implemented. Keep up the good work. It doesn't go unnoticed.

As a man of science, I know that there is a need for food. We all need sustenance to live our daily lives. But I also know that we need to wear masks to prevent COVID-19 (and to help stop the rampant licking of shopping cart handles). Food Basics is the only grocery store I have been in where I have seen plebeians frocking through the aisles with no masks. To no fault of their own, it appears anti-maskers have flocked to this store for the same reasons as the rest of us - great prices and great service. This is still my go-to grocery store, even if Bobert McGee refuses to cover his face.

Love the store, but you have to do something about the bags that you charge us for. Really getting tired of picking up my groceries off the ground. A bag made of tissue paper, would be better quality compared to yours.

All items are good and fresh. Less availability of Indian food items or vegetables. Very reliable for cheap grocery as well other items.
