I really appreciated the initial assessment and how thorough it was. My daughter also left the assessment feeling encouraged. Even though she was lacking in several areas, they didn't make her feel that way at all. Communication to me was very clear and Madeline was awesome in her help and suggestions for my daughter's needs.The sessions have been very good according to what is relayed to me and the intentional attention she receives for her specific needs is not something available to her in her regular classroom.

Our son was struggling. School was a place of noise and confusion. His emotional needs were overwhelming his academic progress. We knew he needed help when he tested at a grade 3 Math level going into grade 6. I called Sylvan. A warm, welcoming, knowledgeable voice answered the phone;the rest is history. His academic tutoring began as well as counselling with an affiliated behavioural counsellor. Today, two years later, our son is testing at and above grade level in both Math and Reading. He is able to regulate his emotional side much better and no longer DREADS going to school. He is confident in his ability to learn and shows passion for acquiring knowledge. Even though it's work, my son enjoys coming here. He is motivated, he is definitely improving, and the environment is very positive. They have clear assessments and are good about meeting each month to help me understand what improvements have been made and what the focus is for the following month. I can go online and see exactly what skills have been worked on and what level my son is at.

The instructors are well organized, positive and motivating for the students. I would highly recommend Sylvan Learning Centre. The token system used with the children is a bonus too!!
