Jon and Ruth are fantastic people. I am happy for them that they are taking their next path in life to retire but sad to see that Western Gems & Minerals will close on October 31, 2018. Go in as a customer and you'll leave having 2 new friends. All the best, Jon & Ruth.

I absolutely loved going to Western Gem. Amzing and loving people to say the least. I just went there today not realizing they were closed. I wish you both a fabulous retirement as you start another chapter in your lives.
Every time I go there I discover more things I never knew they had - the couple who own it are passionate makers of jewellery and are able to answer most queries, or will point you in the right direction to get the answer. However, the store is in serious need of better organization - it’s very difficult to see what they have so one is wise to simply ask if they have whatever you are looking for.
Such a lovely, friendly couple with a passion for minerals. Music from a cassette player really tells you something. They were willing to bust out the storage cases, so don't plan for 10 minutes.
Amazing service. I know John and Jade since 2009. Alas they shut down the business.
Great place to buy jewelery making supplies and equipment. The owners are friendly, can order in almost anything you might need for your project. Their also quite helpful and will show you how to use something before you leave the shop. If your into milling wax for jewelery creation, definitely check this place out for supplies.

I brought in some jewelry from my grandma to see if it is costume or not, the couple that was there completely ignored me and were talking about something else even after I had asked them if they could just look at it, I pulled it out and they glanced at it and kept talking to each other! Completely ignoring me, I guess the guy thought I was annoying because he just started rambling off what the jewelry stamps are and what they mean, I looked inside the rings and said what I thought I saw, and he said you might need a magnifying glass and continued talking to his wife.. After that I just walked out, accepting that they would be no help to me at all. I expected something way more professional!
