Its a quaint 1950's era wood frame building. The Ambulance entrance lets you know that its a hospital and not a funeral home or an old elementary school. Once inside you are greeted with dim lighting and obsure signage. If you're a local you don't need it anyway. Admitting is a little room to the left of the door when you get in. Since the nurse can't see you wander in feel free to try a few hallways first. The friendly and helpful staff will be glad to redirect you. The emergency department has two beds. The hospital is far enough away from the main highway that they seldom have to work with severe traumas. Mainly with alchohol and drug related vehicle rollovers. Please don't roll your vehicle with more than one passenger inside and wear seatbelts. The emergency waiting room is some quaint stacking padded steel chairs in the hallway. The sort of chairs that you had to put out for the adults at an elementary school while the floor was good enough for the kids. Feel free to discuss your ailments with curious passers by if you like. They will reward you with tales of their own. Service on a Friday morning was excellent. There was one doctor available and we only had to wait for the other patient to move on. The doctor to patient ratio was outstanding. I'm not sure what it would be like when it gets busy in there. The staff were all wonderful and helpful and efficient. I'm grateful for their help and glad the hospital survived the wave of closures that affected so many rural BC communities.
