Had a carpeted basement steam cleaned - about 400 square feet for 170 . It removed some of the smell and hopefully killed off any mold, dust mites, and other junk that managed to grow in the carpet over the years and exacerbate my allergies. Bruno did the job and was very friendly, independent, and helped move furniture around in the basement during the steam cleaning. It took about an hour total. The reason I gave this service 4 stars instead of 5 was because I was told, both on the phone and by Bruno after the cleaning, that the carpet would be dry after about 5 hours, so we simply moved all the basement furniture into the storage and laundry room on the same level and figured we would move it back in the evening on the same day. Unfortunately, the carpet stayed damp to the touch for at least 30 hours AFTER the steam cleaning, despite the house being fairly warm and dry in the winter time, running the HVAC fan throughout that time, and even running a portable dehumidifier to help speed up the process. Right after the job was done, the carpets were soaking wet (ie. if you walked with socks over it the bottoms would be soaked instantly), and I was very skeptical that it would dry within that time period and unfortunately I was correct. I felt uncomfortable moving furniture back onto wet carpet as it could warp some of the wood and damage it, so due to this error in the drying time estimate, our laundry and storage room was effectively blocked for a day longer than anticipated. The image attached is what our carpet looks like. It is just basic carpeting that comes with most houses. So if you have a carpet like this one, you may want to plan to have your furniture out of the steam cleaned area for at least 2 days - or keep the furniture in place and ask for them to clean around it - but then those areas under the furniture will be left uncleaned.
