Fantastic experience! Great staff, amazing snow, and a supreme hiking and camping destination. Very comfortable lodge with running water indoor toilets and sauna.

We had an amazing autumn get-away adventure at The Mount Carlyle Lodge. The alpine larch trees were just turning colour and the views from the surrounding summits were incredible. Brian, the owner, joined us the first night for a laughter-filled supper and Dan, our host, gave us all the guidance we needed for our daily excursions. The whole trip was filled with lovely memories and we couldn't stop talking about how much we loved the lodge!

An amazing experience. We hiked in on a Friday and out on a Monday with 2 days of hiking around the cabin in between. The hike in is approximately 7km and there are 2 different trails, one has longer flat sections with steep in between sections, we took this rout in. The other is more of a slow incline and we took it on our way out. neither are overly hard and both trails are pretty well maintained and have gorgeous views. We hiked up to the 3 pyramids and hiked there ridgeline, they have a pretty mild incline however there is a fair amount of scrambling one has to do (climbing over rocks of various sizes). this was extremely worth it and very fun. after these ridges we hiked a peak beside them that I cant remember the name of. This was around 8km and made for an incredible day. on day 3 we hiked into mother load lake, the trail is a lot less warn and not always super obvious but easy enough if one just pays attention and uses logic as well as the instructions the caretaker gives. This is an easier hike, more of a walk and is extremely pretty. The lake is small but swimmable and a great place for a picnic. The lodge itself is reasonably large with 4 bedrooms and 2 beds in each that are either doubles or queens and are pretty comfortable. big functional kitchen with everything you are likely to need. full stove, oven and all the pots and pans for cooking or baking. bathroom, pee toilet inside and outhouses for the rest. shower is outside and very basic, it can be used cold with no effort or one can add hot water with a little work. there is a fantastic sauna but it can only be used outside fire season. the place has both gas and wood fires for heat. solar panels so there is electricity for lights, music, charging devices etc. there are games and books for those that just want to chill around the lodge. the caretaker was excellent. no dogs I've only been once but I'm sure i will return, the price is very good and the experience well worth it.
