This unique sculpture is located at the Ken Whillans Square just outside of City Hall. I did stumbled upon "Two Visions" without the knowledge of sculpture existence, seized me suddenly with simple geometrical shape and deep colors of patina. I am absolutely attracted to public abstract art because break free from millennia-old figurative or narrative traditions and also because is rare. In this case artists Ernest Herzig played with circle shapes, fragmentation and flattening of its surfaces. Doing so, given viewers refreshing look on the traditional material - bronze. Sculpture size is suitable for indoor presentation, but because is out of the context of museum or gallery space, in engaging way is blending in relationship with environment. "Visions" prescribed pattern is symbolic, philosophical, connect viewer to the essence of expression, message of gender equality. Artist concept was "inspired by acts of suppression and violence against women". Beyond the above I adore the intimate dedication: "to my wonderful wife and friend Rivette". I am really aware that art sometimes is difficult to be fully absorb or even understand, but I still believe that more of it in public spaces, for all to enjoyed freely, make city litte more balanced place for living person. Beautiful by my measures. Worth the effort. Yours to discover.
