I've been a student of both Lynn and Peter Ware for almost two years now and I've got to say, I've been glad with the results. I have really enjoyed every piano course and have learned a lot from Lynn's skillful music theory classes. Both teachers are understanding and encouraging. Peter's classes are very detailed and he definitely puts a lot of feeling into music. As far as I know, Lynn's classes are interesting and filled with knowledge. For anyone having the need to find a good music teacher, I've been there too and I can happily say this is a good choice. In the end, I just want to say, Ware Academy of Music is a really good place to start off or continue your journey in music.

I have been taking piano lessons with Dr. David Swan for the last four years and he has been so, so helpful. Especially this year with my ARCT exam, I was kind of overwhelmed with the short deadline, higher expectations, and balancing my other commitments. He was very accommodating in arranging extra lessons and taking all the measures in making sure I was understanding a piece to the best of my ability, through both critical feedback and encouragement. Overall, I think he's just a really nice person who loves music, and his teaching is very professional and enriching but also light hearted enough for someone who isn't necessarily looking to make piano a career (me). The practice opportunities and mini concerts with Peter and him were also really helpful , and I honestly think those final weeks were what made my exam. I took all my theory lessons from rudiments to ARCT analysis at Ware Academy, with Lynn, Peter, Paul, and David. To be honest, harmony is not a particular love of mine... but they teach it in a way that is just methodological enough while also having this sort of love/passion for it that is really quite uplifting, that it becomes doable (and I've happily completed my diploma :) I won't say I miss harmony, but it definitely trains a sort of work ethic that is really valuable for the future as well, and I kind of see now how it is essential in your understanding of music. This is a really good environment to learn it in. Overall, from what I've seen, it's filled with nice people who love music and love teaching it as well - I highly recommend it ;D Edit:* I wrote this in January 2020 (thus the concerts and the exam) but I just realized today I never actually posted this
My son was in the summer online learning this year and got 96 in the August level 8 theory exam. The teaching is so clear and logical which help a lot understanding the theory. It is so effective that you do not need to spend too much time reading long and boring theory book. More importantly they provide lots of practices to facilitate the memorizing. I highly recommend it.
Recently, I did Level 8 Theory at Ware Academy of Music. The teachers here are amazing and dedicated to teaching their students music. Their lessons are easy to understand and well explained. They have extremely good support with the availability of self-made textbooks that cover every part of exam in detail. Any question you will have, will be answered. These classes ensure you success as long as you work hard. While working hard on many extra-curricular and being new to Piano Theory. The teachers here allowed me to take my time and learn. They gave me time after classes to stay, ask questions and do extra tests that allowed me to prepare myself for the test. Because of the extraordinary teaching and lessons of Lynn Ware, I was able to achieve a high mark on my theory. Never once, during my 3 month there, have I regretted practicing everyday and studying. I am extremely happy with my results and would recommend these classes to anyone who would like to learn even a bit about music or like to pursue music in a long-run. I, for sure, would like music or some form of arts to be part of my careers. It would be an understatement to say that they are one of the best teachers out there, being not only able to help, educate you but to actually understand your needs to pursue your goals
Very Professional theory and practical teaching, my child improved a lot and got all most full score in summer online theory study. I highly recommend study in Ware Academy of music.
My son did Advanced Rudiments exam back in August 2016, so forgot about most of the materials when deciding to take Harmony Level 9 at Mr. Ware's class in September 2019. The concepts in Harmony L9 seems extremely challenging and the group lessons requires exceptional self regulation and motivations. My son was far behind the curriculum when the December exam was near, so in addition to group lessons, I put him to Mr. Ware's private lessons. Mr. Ware excellent teaching eventually made the comprehensive materials comprehended. For a kid at 12 years-old at piano level 8, harmony L9 requires much deeper understanding than being able to play piano pieces, thanks to Mr. Ware's unique teaching method, he got 85 in December Harmony L9 exam. I would highly recommend kids at similar level to take group plus private lessons with Mr. Ware. It means success in RCM harmony exams.
I have been studying music harmony at Ware Academy for almost a year now, and I was able to achieve 95 and 97 on my level 9 and 10 RCM Harmony exams respectively, thanks to the great teaching that happens at this academy.
the teacher David Swain was ask me sensitive unprofessional question unrelated with piano. felt very disturbed after his preaching his faith. Besides his lessons starts at least 30 late. terrible time management. took his theory lessons. when I wrote questions wrong he would say to me this is non sense. lessons are too off wasting my time
