I am a treasurer for a Strata, anyone considering WM services needs to read their contract carefully and ask lots questions and get things in writing. Ask for clarification on all the extra fees, and negotiate to get what you feel is reasonable. Ask for example what the charges are for container removal. We were charged 150 per item, (we had 6 totes and a 2 yard bin (yep 1050 plus additional ser charges) I knew there would be a fee, it stated this in our agreement, however when searched onIine (as it said on our agreement) they didn't have fees listed. When I spoke to WM and asked for the list of additional fees they said that their wasn't one but that 150 was the current fee. After being transferred from billing to the contract department and questioning the excessive fee, the agents response was I should be happy because the fee has now gone up to 185. and no they don't have a price list for additional services. READ YOUR CONTRACT AND ASK FOR DETAILS IN WRITING. Lesson learned, negotiate the pick up fees before signing your agreement!

Had residential garbage pick-up from WM for 6 yrs. Local operator and truck driver has been amazing during this time, however, their corporation messed my auto payments up, decided to suspend the account after 1 week even though they already had preauthorized payment and it was impossible for anyone at customer service to help. They bounced me around not sure what to do. I beleive their finance department did this ok purpose, didn't want customers in the area. Same issue happened with my neighbor. Worst experience I've ever had with a company.
A Waste Management driver made contact with and damaged our retaining wall (it's fairly close to the road, and the driver usually has a bit of a time getting around it) After weeks of messaging and calling, their route manager and lead detective, Mick DeCosta, came out and looked at it. Never heard from him again. More messaging....more calling....finally heard back from him. They have concluded that it's not their fault. They would prefer to lose thousands of dollars per year in our business than pay for a small amount of damage that they caused or even make a concession. Waste Management is a terrible company. Over the years they have no showed our pickup more times than I can count, they regularly raise their rates and auto-renew their contracts three months before the expiry date. There are a few great local companies around and really no reason to use these guys.
We are the people and we should protect the people from greed and manipulation of companies like this!! Absolutely the biggest SCAM I have ever encounter and the chamber of commerce should investigate this company and expose it for what it is. They are deceiving and rip off!!!!! They start you at an agreed price and increase it monthly. We started at roughly 100 for a 6-yard dumpster once a week. Our manger did not notice the crazy increases monthly as it was just tied into the monthly bills. They blamed it on a fuel sure charge when fuel or oil hasn’t gone up in 2 years. COMPLETE LIE!! The scammers increase it to 347 in less than two years. Please realize we loyal customer for 8 years. When I noticed the price was to high, I called and acted as if I was another business down the road. Trust me they asked me a hundred questions to try to make sure I wasn't an existing customer. When I received the price for a new service for a 6-yard dumpster for once a week it was 84. Now you tell me why they were charging me 347 when they are quoting new customers 84. When I brought it to their attention they would not refund us any money and they offered to lower it to 84 to keep my business. Don't get me wrong, this is not a good thing. That means they were purposely gouging us 263 per month. I encourage everyone who reads this to send this to their friends on facebook and twitter. We are trying to get it on the news now! We need to protect our community from crooks like this. In my 20 years in business I have not seen a company purposely scam their loyal customers over greed. I called numerous other garbage services and they were all in the 80 to 100 range so their price isn’t justified. Also, read the contract!!! You are responsible for their dumpster if it's stolen, they can raise your rates at any time without telling you, they can sue you if you decide you don’t want to use them anymore and you have to pay their attorneys fees, ect…….
