We have now travelled with Royal Irish Tours twice in two years, last year we did the 2 week tour of Ireland, and this year we did the "Royal Manor, Scotland Tour". Ireland: We saw some amazing places, but 2 weeks on a bus was too much for us. Many days were spent travelling too long of a distance on the bus. We had a an extremely cranky guide, Jennifer, and her sidekick bus driver Norman. She never cared enough about the people to even bother learning our names. To RIT's credit, we were so unhappy with the guide, that they asked us to please try another trip, and they will give us a discount on our next trip. True to their word, this year we traveled a week to Scotland. The guide, Linda and driver Gavin were a breath of fresh air compared to last year. However, the company disappointed us in a few ways with this trip. Many people were looking forward to a steam train ride, but it was cancelled while we were on our trip. The guide did not know why, but we found out by "googling" that the train doesn't run on Tuesdays after Sept. 1, RIT did not do their homework when planning this particular trip. They put us instead on a dolphin spirit boat cruise which was both freezing and boring. We also found out that RIT instructed the manors to only offer us one choice at dinner. Well that quickly blew up in their face. Thanks to the guide we were offered more items for the rest of the trip. That was a ridiculous plan, but thank goodness the guide intervened. We spent way too much time on the bus, destinations were so far that one day we spent just about the same amount of time on the bus as it took to fly to Scotland from Toronto. This tour is relatively new, so I am hoping that for future trips they will do a better job of mapping out the daily trips. We drove by places one day, only to return the next day to tour them (Locke Ness). We personally are done with these kinds of tours, but we sure did meet some very nice travel companions.

Just returned from the 11 Day Manor Royal Tour - our Guide, Ian and Driver, Sean were absolutely wonderful! Ian kept us well informed and Sean got us around without concern!! From Dublin, to Belfast, to almost everywhere, the sights were fabulous and the accommodations were outstanding. IF ONLY we didn't have to take a bus (LOL) - going through some of the rural roads was a bit tedious at times (especially if you are somewhat prone to motion sickness). BUT if that is all my problems, then I have no problems. The Titanic visit was superb; Giants Causeway awesome; Cliffs of Moher just out of the park; even the Blarney Stone was kinda cool. I cannot say enough things about the way Ian looked after all our needs - he was definitely worth his weight.

We have been on three trips with Royal Irish Tours and loved them so much we are considering a fourth! We have taken the Manor Royal, Kerry Royal and Scottish Royal tours. From the moment you arrive, you are warmly welcomed at the airport and the fun begins from there. The driver/guides are great (Colm, Joe) and in Scotland a tour director and driver (Kirsten/Hugh). These hard working people help make the trip so enjoyable. The hotels are nice, the meals are lovely. We met some very nice fellow travellers on our tour. Ireland and Scotland are very beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!

If you ever go across the sea to Ireland, then maybe you should consider Royal Irish Tours. I went with 2 friends on the Royal Manor Tour and cannot say enough good things about the experience. The castles/hotels/manors were luxurious - we three shared a room and were really comfortable. Great beds, wonderful bathrooms and the food was scrumptious. An added bonus is that we stayed in one place for 2 nights most of the time. Breakfasts and most dinners were included in the price - really yummy food. In addition, Joe Nix the coach driver, was knowledgeable, friendly and fun. There were 28 of us on the first tour of this season and we had a delightful time. Joe really knows and loves his country - it comes across in the stories he tells. Ireland is green for a reason. We had rain for some part of most days, but it seemed to hit us as we were driving from one place to another and it was early spring. Ireland is beautiful, lots of history, buckets of charm, really lovely people.
