The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada Reviews | Rating 4.8 out of 5 stars (5 reviews)

The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is located in Puslinch, Canada on 6981 Conc. 4. The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is rated 4.8 out of 5 in the category animal protection organization in Canada. The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada's mission is to provide a lifelong home to donkeys, mules and hinnies who are unwanted, neglected or abused, or whose owners can no longer care for them; and to promote the responsible stewardship of all animals through humane education. The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is a donkey and mule rescue, located on 100 acres of beautiful land, in south Guelph. Often, donkeys are obtained to perform jobs that are not in their nature to do. As a companion to other animals they become lonely and do not have a proper diet if eating the same as their companion. As guard animals, they will often protect themselves and their resources, but not the animals they were meant to protect. Other situations for donkeys can be just as harmful to them, if their unique needs are not well understood. They are not the same as horses, cows or other large animals and if treated as such, they will likely suffer. Our Vision We envision a world in which the dignity and worth of all creatures are recognized and respected. Our Charter We grant to every animal admitted: • Peace, freedom and protection • The best possible care and medical attention • The right of life regardless of age or condition • A dignified, peaceful death, induced only in the event of extreme suffering and the loss of quality of life We work to uphold the Five Freedoms: 1. Freedom from hunger and thirst 2. Freedom from discomfort 3. Freedom from pain 4. Freedom to express normal behaviour 5. Freedom from fear and distress

This is a hidden gem in Ontario. I accidentally found this place online and decided to visit it right away. There were lots of donkeys & mule and they were cute & friendly! The place was clean and not a lot of visitors, which I like.I got to learn a few things about donkey. The do also have a small gift shop and I bought my daughter a cute donkey stuffed animal, she loves it.

Great spot to check out cute donkeys and mules. Some are in the field you can walk in, others are in their own fenced in areas but you can still pet them all. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Small gift shop too. Fun day out!

This sanctuary is absolutely an amazing opportunity for the whole family or alone. The volunteers are so welcoming, thoughtful and knowledgeable on all the donkeys, mules, and hennies. This place is a must see and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get involved and become a sponsor/donor. Kudos to all the great staff and volunteers!

Everyone here was exceptionally friendly! It’s run with the help of many volunteers and they all took the time to introduce us to the donkeys in their sections. We went during one of their “Christmas days” and they even had hot apple cider and desserts for the guests, which I was very appreciative of since my hands were frozen. It was a very educational place, too. The donkeys were so sweet and peaceful. I love this place!

Well maintained, well staffed, parking, hand washing station, gift shop, lots of donkeys, a few horses, mules and some other cross breeds, and lots of opportunities to touch, and brush the donkeys. Knowledgeable and keen staff readily available to answer questions and let you know which ones you can touch. Would definitely go again!
