After being born and raised in Southampton and spending most of our lives living in Port Elgin my wife Jackie and I decided it was time to come home. In anticipation of this we had purchased a lot in a beautiful area of Southampton in 2005. Finally after 14 years we decided it was time (actually long past time)! We had contacted many builders in the area and most didn't have time for us as they said they were too busy building subdivisions. We had attended many Rotary Home Shows in Southampton in the past and found one consistency. Ben and Dylan Freeburn of Alair Homes were at all and were very pleasant to talk to and seemed very knowledgeable. Of the builders we talked to Ben was the only one who said they could start right away. He assisted us in planning and building our completely custom craftsman style bungalow from the ground up. Their on-line system for budgeting is second to none and made a very difficult process much easier. Our project manager Nathan Ward was fantastic to work with and guided us through the process with relative ease. We can't say enough good things about Nathan and his knowledge and professionalism. At times we probably made his life very difficult given our indecision in several areas and our propensity for changing our minds. We couldn’t be happier with Nathan and the entire team! Seven months after our lot was cleared we moved into our beautiful new home!
When my wife and I purchased our lot in Kincardine we decided we wanted to build a custom home. We only interviewed one builder and we knew as soon as we met Ben and his brother Dylan we had found our builders! We felt comfortable with them & we trusted their skill in building our dream home. Our project manager Carson was a great person to deal with and was always available to discuss any thoughts or concerns we had. If you are looking to build a house I highly recommend Alair homes... our experience has been truly the best and we absolutely love the house that was built for us.
A few years ago we decided to have a major renovation completed on our family home of 20 years. We did a good bit of research on area contractors and decided that Alair Homes Grey Bruce was the best choice for us. We couldn't be happier with how the renovation project turned out. Ben and Dylan understood our vision for the space and made it happen. There was very little change between estimate and actual cost, and we were involved every step of the way. The quality of the work is outstanding and will stand the test of time. More recently, when we decided to build a recreational home, we didn't hesitate on our choice of contractor. If Ben and Dylan's building schedule had been full, we had decided we would wait for their first opening rather than work with any other contractor. That's how much we value the quality of their work. That house is now finished and is perfect in every way. Our project manager, Carson Blodgett, was fantastic. He went over and above our expectations, sourcing out the obscure to make sure we got the design elements we'd requested, while also figuring out how to keep the project on time and in line with the budget. When people ask us if we would recommend Alair Homes we say yes, absolutely and with no reservations. We wouldn't choose anyone else.
After more than thirty years of coming to Port Elgin to visit family and friends we decided in 2018 to move from Ottawa and build our next home there. We first met Ben Freeburn in June of 2018 and shared our thoughts of building a Craftsman style bungalow. From the first time I sat with Ben in his office I knew we'd be working with him and his group. His low key demeanour and honest nature were exactly what others who had built with Ben in the past told us we'd find. And we did. Working with Ben and team at Alair Homes Grey Bruce, we came up with a plan and budget to get started. Ben did a great job on keeping our budget plans a priority. Alair broke ground in September of 2019 and our Project Manager Carson Blodgett got to work and gathered all the trades required to get the project underway. Carson did a fantastic job in keeping us up to date through the entire process and kept us informed with great weekly photos on the Alair website. Living seven hours away this was a great way for us to see the progression. Nine months later and we could not be happier with the outcome. Everything about the build has been fantastic. From the guys at Alair to the trades we met through Ben and Carson. We have since met future neighbours and everyone we have spoken to have commented on the level of detail and excellent construction being done through the various phases. We can't say enough how happy we were that we had Carson as a Project Manager, He made sure all the small details were covered off and went out of his way to make sure any requests we had were put into action. We were very thankful to share our dream home construction with him. To anyone thinking of building a home in and around Saugeen Shores you could not find a more down to earth and honest bunch of guys than the team at Alair Homes Grey Bruce.
