My friends and I went to Ponchos in the afternoon for some guacamole and margaritas. The food was good and the drinks were boozy. The server was kind, though slow sometimes. There was some price confusion between the menu and whatever price they had in their system.

It's a bit plain on the inside: down to earth and unassuming, but plain. Surroundings aside, the food was good: I had the Paella, with cod, chorizo, chicken, and prawns (I asked them to hold the mussels and clams). I've had much better Paella in Spain, but that might not be a fair comparison. My only complaint would be that the cod seemed over-cooked and almost mushy. Regardless, the meal was flavorful and satisfying, and the service was pleasant and timely.
Recently renovated, feels like mexico, the food and service were fantastic. The owner/ server Edgar was great. Definitely a welcome change on Denman st.
The food was okay, but I was pretty disappointed with the service. Our drinking water was warm and the ceiling fan wasn't on - despite the fact it was a red hot evening. My fajitas came with a TINY serving of sour cream and three tortillas, so I asked for some more. The new tortillas were soggy and straight out of the microwave (not tasty and a little crispy like the first batch) - and the portion of sour cream was laughable. When the bill came, they had charged for the tortillas and sour cream. When I politely said I was disappointed with that, they refused to put it right. I could understand that if I'd paid 10 for the meal - but I'd ordered a 20 meal. I live in the area and I would have probably returned had they showed some grace and removed the extras from the bill - but I won't be returning. I get the feeling they heard my accent and assumed I was a visitor, not a local, and therefore didn't care about getting repeat business.
Best chile relleno I've ever had and it wasn't even on the menu. The chef made it anyway. Wonderful place.
Order the special coffee and you're in for an entertaining surprise. The food and margaritas are great too, but they dont involve pyrotechnics.
Great service, great food! Definitely coming back!
I had the tortilla sound and it was pretty good. Service could be better.
