A neighbourhood gem. Passionate and knowledgeable teachers, fantastic classes that offer a creative variety of techniques and styles, a great selection of glazes, a beautiful and well-organized space, plus gorgeous pottery. One of my favourite places in Hintonburg.

I have taken classes here at Hintonburg pottery and loved it so much that I ended up being a studio Potter for the year I was living in Ottawa. What a great experience. Having the classes help but sometimes you just want the time to explore and try your own pieces in your own time. Being a studio Potter means you can just buy a bunch of credits online and then just use them as you go throughout the week and months. Booking studio time is super easy to set up as it is all electronic! You also get reminded of your time slots in case you forget! I also love the range of glaze colours that they have available here at Hintonburg. Ginger, the owner loves colour so this really helps. So many colour options and I am a huge fan of the sea green, blue, and green combos. Your own issue will be figuring out what to glaze your pieces in! Either way, if you have ever wanted to try your hand at pottery than this is the place to go. The environment is super relaxing and you will always get better! The teachers are great as well. Before you know it you will become as addicted as I and everyone else there to making your own wheelthrown or hand built pottery pieces.

Attended a wheel pottery class. Had lots of fun and covid precautions were taken seriously. Was able to fire one bowl and came back a few weeks later to pick up. Would definitely do this again

A beautiful space, well set up for responsibly distanced teaching during Covid, and with quality equipment and materials. Where the experience lost value for me was the timing of the course which felt very rushed (just 30 minutes more would have been so appreciated), the time it took for our pottery to be glazed (over a month), as well as one of our pots being glazed incorrectly. They kindly gave us another lovely bowl to apologize but it was still unfortunate to not receive the requested glaze. I do not know the inner workings of the studio but I would either suggest adjusting the cost to add 30 minutes, or perhaps ensure the Instructors are being paid for a \time buffer\. I felt rushed out the door and then like our pots were forgotten about.

I feel bad writing a poor review but I feel that it is important to be honest so that this studio can make some improvements. My sisters and I bought a class for my moms birthday before the lockdown and we were disappointed in the class and the instructors attitude. She rushed the class and wasn’t friendly at all. She had also forgot to set up a station for one of us so I was sitting outside of the circle. This would have been fine if she wasn’t so rude about it. I also thought it was strange how we could only pick one of our pieces to put in the kiln. I have taken other pottery classes where we got at least 2 to take home. Pretty disappointing experience.
