Durham Deaf Services is a non-profit organization that offers services and programs that promote self-reliance within the Deaf, Deafened, and Hard of hearing Community. Seeing a need to make workshops that are available to the general public more accessible to the Deaf Community, DDS hosts various workshops throughout the year. These workshops are made available to the Deaf community through ASL interpretation. Some examples of workshops offered in the past include CPR, first aid, parenting courses, and boating safety. As COVID-19 continues to spread, the future has never felt so unpredictable. These are challenging times for us all, and we hope you’re in good spirits and health! Right now, we’re doing everything possible to sustain daily operations and provide services to our community. While there’s a lot of uncertainty, we know that we need to adapt fast to our changing reality. Now, more than ever, our community needs us. And we need you. Durham Deaf Services has been working tirelessly to keep the local Deaf community updated and informed on facts and information regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic. We are doing this also while working to keep our services operational and as we continue to run our Deaf Adult Upgrading Program, albeit digitally.  We have been working relentlessly to keep our staff employed, keep the community informed and run our services, all while working on marginal funding and recovering from a costly move to our new office.   But we need your support to continue!
