The only Burmese place I know of in the GTA! Located within Bayview Village Mall is this unique restaurant that serves up vibrant flavors that'll get your taste buds dancing. Not Thai, not Lao, not Cambodian, not Indian, definitely Burmese. The Chamucas alone, which are like fried veggie spring rolls taken up a few notches, were excellent as are their lamb dishes. The platha with coconut dip was also tasty and only wished there was more. Also surprised rice wasn't included with the mains even though the menu said it was; rice definitely needed to balance out the flavors. Pricing increased by about 40% from a few months ago but then again they are situated in Bayview Village and with Covid, understandable to survive #supportlocal. Only wish portions sizes were bigger as their food is yummy!
I have wanted to try this place for a while, but was always concerned how it would taste if I didn't eat it there.. I have been missing out! The portions are large, the pricing is good, the service is excellent, and the food is ridiculously good! Lots to choose from for the carnivore and vegetarian. (Their eggplant mash is addictive! ) Def, a must try!
So delicious! Eggplant mash was amazing as were Malay vegetable curry and chicken curry. We will be ordering from Popa again for sure.
We had high expectations for this place; when we got the entrants we thought it would be a great choice coming to this place, but next dishes did not meet the expectations. Service was slow and some of the waiters were not knowledge about what were serving. The entree was good and tasty. However the rest of the dishes had the same curry sauce; everything tasted the same! Finally, the bill. The place is too expensive for what you really eat: small portions of food with the same sauce everywhere.
Such an amazing place! Delicious food and a lot of variety in each plate. Love them all. Highly recommend this restaurant! 5/5 stars
Delicious flavourful food. Asked them for their recommendations and Ordered the tofu tower, mango pickle lamb, veg Balinese curry and the chicken Malay curry - brilliant blend of flavours and good quantity for 4people. Decent pricing as well. Definitely going to be a regular
We went to Popa last night for dinner. It has been a weird year and so we were looking to try some place new. Popa did not disappoint! I absolutely loved everything about the restaurant, the food, the service. The whole dining experience was just flawless. Our server Shabbir was so wonderful, professional and knowledgeable. I know I am going to be coming back over and over again and of course recommending this restaurant to everyone I know.
