To be honest the chance of a child using his or her own stem cells is pretty low. The number I was from research is 1/400. But it’s like insurance. It’s better to have than to use it. We feel more secured now that we’ve made this investment for our children. Hope they don’t need to use them in their lifetime.

Through our research, we found out that compared with bone marrow transplantation, cord blood has its advantages. It's much easier to get cord blood without a separate operation and save it at birth than to find volunteers willing to donate bone marrow. The success rate of cord blood matching is much higher than bone marrow matching. But of course, we don't wan to use it in the future at all.
