I bought a Genesis Rosebud 8 gear bicycle a year ago from a downtown Toronto bike shop. I liked it because it was a truly upright bike that fit my body (long back and relatively short legs). However, it instantly began to rust and now a year later it looks like it is at least 10 years old with rust bubbling up underneath and pushing the paint off . I complained gently to my local store which had already replaced my chain gurf for free after only two months due to the rust. They put me in touch with Peter at Genesis bikes. He was instantly hostile, blamed me for the state of the bike giving different hypothetical reasons for the rust in each area of the bike, & claimed I had been difficult with my local vendor. He was unwilling to do anything remotely helpful and I was much more upset about the state of my bike after dealing with him than before. I strongly recommend against buying this bike as it will rust and if you have to deal with Peter, who I understand does customer "service" for Genesis you will be very badly treated. I am 70 years old, I have had many bikes in my life, they have all lived outside and none had rusted in any comparable way.
