My husband has hearing lost and he’s a newcomer to Canada. He doesn’t know English and needs special hearing service but Canadian Hearing Services doesn’t have any international supportive counselors to help him. I have a deaf friend who doesn’t know sign language and her case manager is oral deaf . She has to wait for each appointment almost 2 weeks for caseworker’s interpreter even for emergency concerns. Her case manager is very lazy and slow to fallows up with other services or organization. It’s very difficult for my friend to call and talk over the phone about her issues with any services, organizations . Canadian Hearing Services doesn’t have enough knowledgeable staffs ,service locations and so much slow on any process. It’s very hard to get to Newmarket or Toronto office for someone doesn’t have a car or has limited budget for Gas for who lives far away from these locations.
