The Centre de Réadaptation en Dépendance de Montréal (FCRDM) foundation is a social organization whose mission is to help users in their approach, to improve their quality of life and the quality of the services offered to them at the Montreal Addiction Rehabilitation Centre - University Institute* (CRDM-IU). Our priority is to promote the well-being of the Centre's users, particularly children, adolescents and young adults. * formerly Dollard-Cormier Centre Since its inception in 1999, the Centre has invested over $500,000 in various projects related to social integration through work, support for families with young children, school drop-out for young adults, pathological gambling and cyberaddiction. Two main projects funded by the Foundation : FOCUS ON THE FAMILY: Entirely funded by the CRDM Foundation, Focus on the Family is aimed at families whose parents are experiencing problems of drug, alcohol, pathological gambling or cyberaddiction and who have children aged 6 to 12 who suffer from these problems. - 8% of children aged 17 and under live with an alcohol-dependent parent. - Drug addiction is noted in 60% of neglect situations (Bilan DPJ 2005-2006). - The social cost of placing a child in care is more than $100,000 per year. SCHOOL PHASE 17 - 24 YEARS OLD : The Foundation is proud to fund this unique program. The School Phase responds to the needs and situation of young people struggling with addictions who have dropped out of the school system. In Quebec, it is the only one that is dedicated to young adults while being completely free. - According to a survey by the CPLT (Comité Permanent de Lutte à la Toxicomanie), dropouts use ten times more drugs and three times more alcohol than young people who have not dropped out.
