I went to the Mistaya Canyon. It was so beautiful! The water was fresh too. When I was there, I walked in the forest for about 3-4 hours or so. I also ate there in the fresh air, which was refreshing. I would recommend it in the summer and not in the winter because otherwise, it will be cold walking meters like that.

This is a unique stop along Icefields Parkway. It's about half a kilometer hike from the parking lot down to the canyon. The canyon itself is gorgeous. The river's water is white mixed with the light milky blue we've come to expect from this area. The canyon is cut and curved in a unique shape making it very interesting. There's a bridge that goes across the river and the best views are from the rocks on the other side. Make sure to stay on the dry ones because falling in would certainly lead to death. It's a quick stop and one that's well worth it.

This is my favourite stop on the ice fields parkway. Short 500 m or so hike down to the canyon which is amazing to see. Lots of places to take photos of on and around the bridge. Lots of places to get close to the canyon edge if you want to go out on the rocks. Not very crowded and lots of space for everyone. A couple of hikes start here for those with more time as well. The walk is a slow decent down to the canyon which is very easy. This is definitely worht either a quick stop or some longer exploring. Great for kids!

After a short walk down to the canyon the views and sound are outstanding. The canyon is reasonably deep and the river rushes through at quite a pace. It is possible to access the river before it drops into the canyon but care must be taken as I don't fancy the chances of survival if you were swept in.

The brilliant thing about Mistaya Canyon is the manner by how close you can go to the water. In spite of the fact that signs caution of the danger on the rocks, there is no legal warning and most people chose to take the risk. Watching rushing water from a rock, just inches from your feet is a thrill. The sound is loosening up enough to soothe you to rest. The Mistaya Canyon is additionally an incredible area for photography and I saw numerous with tripods. The region is large enough that even with many individuals on it didn't feel crowded.
