Solid saltwater shop. Beautiful corals, vast selection of fish, decent staff. I love visiting this place but my wallet doesn't. Fair prices especially if you buy when on sale. I prefer this place over big Al's. Not sure why so many 1 star ratings? "Buy fish and they died..." Sure it's not your tank? Marine is tough, and that's the cost of having exotic species in your living room.

They have a huge fish selection, but as you walk by, you watch them drop and die in the tank. Had very bad experience buying even the healthiest looking fish. The hardiest of all, and it died in 24 hrs anyway. My water is perfect, and I did everything correctly. I did buy a shrimp that did live, and I think their corals are OK, but I have no idea what else you may pickup by accident. So be careful. Don't buy fish from them, but other stuff is not bad.
This is my favourite marine store in all of Canada. Always a great selection of livestock and the prices absolutely cannot be beat. I recommend SeaUMarine to anyone looking for saltwater fish/inverts/corals!
I have been going to SUM for a longtime. The longer he has been there the worse the place looks, Rusted display racks, cluttered inventory,tanks are right full of bubble algae and every other nuisance out there. Fish are dead laying on the floor and in tanks, Seems like they are more towards the wholesale, fast in fast out money making, A shame really, as this once was one of my favorite stores to visit, spent a lot of money there over the years but now I mostly look at what I don't want to add (as a problem) to my tank bringing their stuff home to my reef. I hope Ken sees some of these disappointing opinions from his customers and turns this place back into a pleasure to shop in place.........
Finally made it to SUM as I know many other saltwater hobbyists frequent it, and can't say I was super impressed. Coral tanks are loaded with all kinds of algae, most of the colonies are in rough shape and would need serious TLC. They did have an incredible selection of fish at good prices, but as others have mentioned...lots of sick and dying fish in every single tank. The employee working at the time was friendly, but had almost no knowledge about their livestock. I also asked to see that a fish I wanted would eat (since they're known to be finnicky eaters) and I was told it was against store policy. Very disappointing. I took a chance and bought 2 of the healthiest looking fish I could find and alas neither of them are eating, but so far they at least appear to be disease free. Fingers crossed that they make it.
I recently found out about his store and boy was I amazed at the selection. However, they arent the friendliest and most helpful on answering questions or selecting the best fish for your tank. They're only out to make a quick buck! Lost two fish which I bought from this store because I was poorly misguided. When it comes to marine fish, purchasing from someone you can trust and can allow the fish to adjust to a tank environment is best and these guys refuse to do so. I also spoke to one of the employees and he had told me they dont feed any of the fish... It pays off to pay the extra dollar and do both your wallet and the fish a favour.
The store personnel are very racist they assume if you are not white you can not afford their fish. I simply asked about salt water fish he indicated he had them but they were very pricey. I told him I never mentioned the price he repeated again he's just telling me that they are pricey. In disgust I walked out of the store. Two years ago I won the lotto I am a millionaire. I would not recommend anyone of color or different orientation to shop or even walk in that store.
Worst experience ever. I bought 3 fishes there. All of them died within a week, but the last one took my whole livestock with it. Nightmare! Give your tank a favor and don't shop there. I know, the prices are awesome, but it is not worth the risk to see all your fishes dead.
