Overall a fair experience… Pros: the studio space – great natural lighting by the windows, complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate, art supplies included and available (stamping knives, acrylic paint, brushes, sponges, and 1 canvas), extra time (class was scheduled for 2.5 hr, we took an hour extra to finish the painting) Cons: For the adult workshop, very limited instruction was provided (during 3 hr class, instructor was with us for a total of 30 min, retreating to her own desk on phone/laptop for the rest of the time), when we asked the instructor for more direction, was given the response “if you need that much instruction you should stick to paint by numbers” To be honest, I chose a class type activity because I am not a skilled artist and would want some instruction (I thought the workshop is a step by step supportive environment to learn to paint), was a bit taken back by the attitude… Bottom line: I had fun painting because I refuse to let someone to dampen my party, but I couldn’t help but to feel more support would make the experience more enjoyable…

I've been here twice now, once for a workshop and once freestyle. Had a great time on both visits. Very fun, relaxed environment and the staff are nice and provide helpful tips along the way, even if you come for freestyle.

If you've never tried paint night before, this is a great place to start! We got the groupon promo (25/person) and ended up painting at their markham location for about 3hrs. They're very patient and will give you more time if you need it to finish your painting. Their space is also large enough that we had plenty of space without elbowing our neighbors. "Free drinks" is really just hot chocolate and tea/coffee, but I don't care much for that. I find Paintlounge more suitable for people who prefer more guidance from the teacher leading these sessions compared to Paint Nite which usually has bigger groups and give less individual attention. The only down side is their limited choices of paintings. Paint lounge (markham), if you're reading this comment, please introduce more variety!! We'd love to come back and paint again but it's so hard to find a painting we like due to the limited options.

I got a Groupon promo as a birthday gift. Was my first time painting and I loved it. Have only visited Markham location so far. Love the atmosphere and music- so diverse, welcoming, relaxing, friendly and fun. I booked ahead during down time, and never felt rushed. I wasn't in love with the choice of painting options, but the instructor (Jenny) was very accommodating and supportive. I went alone twice and felt completely comfortable. I have to add, Jenny was an amazing instructor. I love to draw but have always been shy to paint. Jenny made sure to allow my natural tastes and choices to dominate my art piece while still being there when I needed. At the same time she managed to be helpful to other independent painters who were there outside of the class. I plan on returning with friends, family and possibly a date. Going in tomorrow to finish my piece. Thanks for the pop art instruction Jenny!

If you're an introvert like me and simply want to paint with little to no guidance, then this place is perfect for you! I visited the paint lounge yesterday and had a blast painting for nearly four hours straight. The painlounge is small and cute - gram-worthy :) However, if you're looking to receive guidance from the leading staff, then I don't recommend this place. The staff that led the workshop I attended did the bare minimum required to qualify the event as a 'workshop'. I appreciated it because I was simply in it to paint, but I noticed other patrons getting slightly discouraged/annoyed by the total lack of help. Every question or request for assistance was met with, "it's up to you." I recommend you wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind ruining! It allows you to have a freer and better experience (IMO). I would definitely revisit! This place is perfect for introverts looking to go on a date with themselves :)

Had a really enjoyable time here today with my fiancée. She wanted to paint to celebrate her birthday, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure she fell in love with the art again. It was my first time ever painting and I got to create a cheesy, sentimental artpiece for my sweet miss. Great day, thank you Paintlounge!

Amazing place to create art in a great environment with ample lighting and experienced staff. tons of art supplies makes it easy to find what you are looking for. Walk in or register.

Loved my experience here. A couple of friends and I went to paint freestyle. But the lady who was working was really helpful and knowledgeable. I love that tea and coffee is complimentary!! :) Can't wait to go back!
