Order the snack portion curry beef brisket & pancake priced at 8.45 and the portion was absolutely TINY!! At this size it should have been no more than 6 and I wouldnt be as upset. The size of an average small rice bowl with five pieces of beef two pieces of potato and two pieces of carrot. The pancake was roti as expected but one sheet of roti sliced into six pieces. Feel very ripped off as the flavour of the sauce was ok at best, beef was fine, carrots weren't stewed long enough, potatoes meh. Very sad to see the delicious Pho place gone and replaced by this..
This review was posted at the time of their soft opening, so please keep this in mind! Came across Joy Noodle Cafe by chance and was pleasantly greeted by their staff who spoke both Cantonese and English (unsure of Mandarin, sorry!) The menu appears to be the same as their North York location, and consists of a variety of staple Hong Kong style cafe meals. Most meals come with a Hong Kong style drink of your choice (no extra charge for ice!) such as milk tea, coffee, iced lemon tea, Horlicks, Ovaltine, soy milk etc. Some meals even come with a choice of Hong Kong style Russian borscht or Chinese soup, both which were excellent in flavours and fresh vegetables. All in all, we really enjoyed the portions and flavours of food. They don't skimp on flavour! Service was friendly, and staff followed all COVID-19 protocols requiring customers to sign in with their information and tables generously socially distanced. Pro Tip - They happen to have an "Afternoon Menu" which likely consists of a handful of specials during the afternoon. Unfortunately, we missed the Afternoon Menu specials by about 15 minutes, which ends at 5:00pm daily. They also have a daily Hainan Chicken Rice set for 10.99. Our dining neighbours across from us ordered it, and it appears to look really tasty! Cash and debit cards accepted at this location. You get 10% off if you pay by cash for both dine-in and take out options. Enjoy!
