We stayed here for 3 nights and booked the Paddle Board tour with CB West Paddle Boards. Amazing trip down the river. We also did some fishing, went to the Gypsum Mines Lake and went out to eat at a restaurant near by! Live Life In Tents was located close enough to all of these things and offered a great view of the hills/trees. I was actually pretty impressed by the outdoor showers and that the water was actually hot, and stayed hot. But as somebody else mentioned below, you definitely have to be okay with outhouses. They were kept clean, but it’s still an outhouse. There was also a big sink with hot water to do your dishes, which was nice. And we also loved the little wooden platform at the campsite. Our tent was too big to put on it, so we basically just used it as an extra surface, which was still great. Definitely recommend this “eco-hostel” experience, and I would love to come back to try out one of the “glamping” tents!

Great private camp site with limited sites available. The staff are great and the place is very easy to find. Spent 1 night there, meant to be 2 but we are fair weather campers and rain was on the way! Bathroom facilities are kept very clean but if you are not used to the "outhouse" experience, be prepared.... Showers actually had hot water, rare, and were very clean. It was also very easy to do your dishes, we always have our own little dish pan but again, nice to have hot water. The only thing I wish was a bit better was the fire wood, it wasn't the best and was quite wet, making it hard to keep a fire going and not have it too smokey. One of my favorite parts of the site was that you could pick a site with a raised platform, this was a really nice bonus if you have a small tent like us! It is really well located to a number of great spots, I am sure that there are some great hidden gems. We ventured to the river ourselves (wear long pants) and it was nice to cool off on a hot day there but be careful of the current- no wonder they can do tubing so easily on the river. I definitely want to do the tubing excursion next time. We also drove to Gypsum mines and went into the Cabot Trail a bit to hike Blueberry Mountain (won't be on the Cabot Trails website, a local spot). The hike there was beautiful and from what we are told, similar to the Skyline Trail but we were able to take our dog on this trail. Will be back for sure and have already told our friends about it! Thanks for a great (but short) trip!

Three friends and I did the tube rentals from Live Life In Tents. We didn’t know what to expect, but we had a great time doing it. Even with lower than usual water levels, we had an awesome time with lots of laughs. Great experience on a beautiful river - would definitely recommend for anyone who wants a new experience and a fun afternoon with friends! Nearby to some great beaches & restaurants as well!

When looking for a unique place to stay in Cape Breton, we can across this place on Airbnb! Well worth it. We love camping and to not have to take a tent and set it up was fantastic! The views were incredible. Very quiet and cozy. We didn't interact with the hosts much but they were all super friendly when we did. We will return on our next adventure to Cape Breton!

Simply put, this is a must visit if you are in Cape Breton. Actually, if you're in Nova Scotia at all, this place is worth the drive. Lee is that good at what he does it will be one of the most memorable and unique experiences you'll have in this province. His passion is obvious from the moment to talk to him on the phone or meet him in person. He truly loves this Island, and loves what he does.

Gorgeous location and plenty of space between campsites for privacy. Very well kept, quiet and relaxing campground with friendly staff and all the basics you need when camping on the island. You must try tubing & guided hikes, unforgettable experience. I would stay here over & over again and would recommend to everybody!
