Initially we had a great experience. Very nice sales girl...very helpful and polite. During the course of booking two kayaks for 9 days it was discovered that someone from the store had it booked out for the day we were going to pick it up. The girl helping us initially felt it would be no problem and went to get the individual who had it booked out thinking she could take another one, ( it is my understanding that another was available but not in as good condition) The other employee, (perhaps owner?), made no attempt at trying to help us or even seemed to care. (She said the other kayaks were only for emergencies???) How it was handled seemed very short sighted as far as a good business move. - Loss of 2 kayak rentals for 9 days - Possible loss of kayak purchase in the future, and - loss of business that day as my wife was looking at buying some clothes after we arranged the rental, Just something to consider for the future, if interested.

Edit: 4 weeks still no refund. Leaving a bad review is a first for me anywhere, and since this is a business I've made every sports purchase I've made in the last 10 years it makes it harder...but You cannot take a 2,400 cash/debit deposit on a rental that was returned the same day, keep the 2,400 for over a week (still not returned, not sure if I will get it back so Police are now involved) and blame it on your bank. I contacted your bank and they reported that you had not provided records of the refund and had made no effort to resolve the matter with them. Your bank advised me to contact you about the matter. I came to your store calmly explained that it had been a week and I expected you to resolve the mater. To tell me you had \made no effort to contact the bank\ to find out where the money went and state \it is out of your hands\ and then treat a long time customer like they are the criminal, have them escorted from the store and refuse to acknowledge its a problem can only garner a zero review. Sadly a one star is the lowest I can leave. EDIT: Refund received after 5 weeks, took an investigation to solve and investigating officer reported that it was an error by merchant using credit card info. Was not determine if it was neglect or intentional.

Quality of rental items is good, the staff are knowledgeable of the area and those nearby like Algonquin and Kawartha for suggestions, pointers, bug report etc. They will also help you load your rental boat onto your vehicle. Drop off/returns is simple and easy.

As a small business we work weekends . We took one weekend off to go camping and it was ruined due to the canoe that we rented from this company. We booked online and no where did it say that you need to specify that you will be portaging or that you will need anything specific . When we picked up our canoe , there was no yoke. The employee seemed surprised when she turned over the canoe but shrugged it off and said, well carry it anyway that you can. 1) our trip had 3 portages 2) we had three children with us , two being toddlers who would also need to be carried so we were depending on a yoke so that my husband could carry the canoe on his own . We decided to try anyway because we paid for the trip ... We made it to our location and realized that it would not be possible or even safe . We returned the canoe a couple hours of picking it up and the same employee shrugged it off and said “well you should have called to book and specified that you needed a yoke “ No refund offered until I asked and only then would the second day be refunded . General consensus from experts is that all canoes should come with yokes Well people , these ones don’t - so if you want to rent from them you better call and be very specific . Very disappointed and a weekend of family time was ruined .

I went to rent a conoe with my ten year old son. When we were about to leave another conoe was returning and ended up flipping their conoe. As soon as i got in i relized the conoe we were in was very tippy, plastic pos. So i go back up and ask for a decent conoe.. the Pelican was all they have/had available. so we took it out. Ended up flipping it , losing a bunch of my stuff, and being relatively unhappy to say the least. youve been warned.
