I had a severe toothache in the middle of the night, had no other choice than visiting emergency room. When I arrived here there was barely any people in the waiting room(me, one family and one old lady), but it took me 4 hours to get a simple prescription for my pain. These people are called emergency service but they have nothing to do anything with emergency. When you ask staff why is it taking so long to get someone looked at you, they say there is only one staff inside. Well maybe they should get couple more extra staff to get people going. I think big majority of the people who come here is in some kind of severe pain and they don’t seem they really care about you at all. Most of these staff looked like they are miserable and to be frank hate their job. I feel like city of Kitchener should reconsider changing their name to something that would make more sense. Maybe a name as “Slow but 24/7” would be more fittable name for them. Long story short, try your best to never ever come here, if you do - expect to wait here for at least 4-5 hours unless your head hasn’t been chopped up in half.

They clearly pay for five star reviews. Check anyone who rates this place five stars. They coincidentally rate most places they visit five stars or one. Hmmm paid reviews. Well this one is honest. I am a patient here in the psyche ward. They keep you here way longer because the more patients under a doctors name the more money that doctor makes. Google how ontario doctors get paid, you'll see. Also most of the nurses here don't care about the patients. I have had two cool nurses and the rest have been brutal and ignored me pretended like I wasn't trying to get their attention. Some nurses would rather partake in nurse gossip. Pretending like you aren't trying to get their attention after making eye contact. The psyche department needs to change. The way they treat some of us mental patients here is brutal. And I am in for depression so this is coming from a sane mind. The way they treat us here is inhuman and borderline cruel. We need more nurses like nurse Brad who actually care about the patients and about doing their job. But sadly many of the nurses I've had aren't that way. No wonder the ratings are so low for grand river. They dont even clean properly and its covid season. I have plenty of evidence to support these claims. And I plan on coming out and bringing this to a mote public setting so that positive changes can be made for these patients. Because as of now this place has made me a depressed person feel even more dehumanized and depressed. This is a terrible place for the mentally ill to be treated.

We had a great experience at Grand River Hospital last week when our toddler was admitted for 4 days. The pediatric unit was very caring and gave my daughter great care. They brought toys, a barney blanket and colouring books to cheer her up. Nurses were always willing to go out of their way to accomodate. Everything was super clean and masks had to be worn when nurses, volunteers and cleaners came into the room. We really appreciate the dedication of this dept to the children in this unit, especially during a pandemic.

It's great that this hospital still has foodd service until 8 pm on weekends and 9 pm on weeknights. They have choices of subway, Greek, and healthy bowls. Which I think is awesome. Too many hospitals are getting rid of this and don't even think about staff who do 12 hr shifts and sometimes would prefer to get to work grab something and not have to cook at home when there's so little time. Plus it generates money for the hospitals and that's not a bad thing. Nice service and good food there too. Plus the prices are pretty good!
