Okay, not great. but not bad! I had lunch recently at Modern India and must say it was just okay. I used to go regularly to this restaurant when it was on Walnut and Main and also the current location. The cleanliness of the premises and the food were second to none. The price was also very reasonable. This was my first visit since the renovation. I don't know if I would go back or not. The food was okay, not as good as before. The atmosphere, while clean is just less warm and inviting than before. I also felt a bit rushed. Also the price for lunch is just too much now. The price is more in keeping with an Indian buffet in Toronto, not Hamilton. At 15 for lunch, plus tax and tip, its just not worth it anymore. Sorry Modern. being modern just doesn't cut it for me anymore.
My rating before they took the buffet away would be 4. Now? Maybe a 1. I live in London but visit Hamilton regularly. I so looked forward to this delicious buffet restaurant after the drive to town. Now, For some strange reason, they've changed to an odd system of customers shoving all the food they can into a single tin pie plate for take out. This makes no sense. Needless to say, I turned around and walked out after arriving last time. I truly hope they bring the buffet back. They've lost some very loyal customers for good if not.
Just ate here, and mid meal a cockroach climbed onto my plate. I advised the waiter, took a photo and he took the plate away. Tried to say “it sometimes happens” he also tried to charge us full price for the meal. Also it’s no longer a buffet??? Please be aware when going here if you still choose to.
Get the take away box only if you're \u200bokay with the contents getting meshed together in a partition-less box. Food is just average quality. Tried this place 2 years ago, didn't like the taste, tried it again now to see if they got any better?! I have to give 2 stars for their consistency!! Hats off
I went with my girlfriend and must say we both really enjoyed the food. It was quite delicious. The price is very affordable for both lunch and dinner. The only problem I had was how full I became after spending an evening there. Glad I live just around the corner.
Pretty good Indian food at about 15 dollars for all you can eat the take out is a better deal. The best thing to do is make your own rice at home then get 2 take out containers for 20 bucks. That's enough food to feed 3 hungry people.
Decent food at a really reasonable price. Location is good and really central. The older gentleman that runs the place has always been very friendly. Would recommend.
