We requested help with a return in the fall. Nelson seemed personable and knowledgable, and suggested he would get back to us in a week. 4 months later, we still have no communication. Nelson has not responded to any emails or prompts from his reception to get back to us. We are taking our file elsewhere.

My mother used them for her and my late fathers personal taxes. It took them months to sort out a simple return and then my mom called me in tears when she received the invoice - far greater than she ever imagined.
Unbelievable level of incompetence. We made four attempts to do our tax returns with Alvarez & Co, and every single time something was completely wrong with them. Untrained staff, unprofessional communication, and insanely long delays in getting work done that ultimately was incorrect anyways. In the end, after Nelson said he had personally said looked over our returns and it showed a wildly incorrect number that he had admitted was a mistake, we agreed it was best to go to somewhere else that could properly handle our needs. Our uncomplicated tax returns were done in less than a few days by another local accountant, and at a fraction of the cost of what Alvarez was going to charge. Avoid at all costs!
