Pretty strenuous hike up to the peak where you get beautiful 180 degree views of the bays and the Madeira Park area. I’ve done a decent amount of hiking and this was one of the steepest grades I’ve ever gone up. It’s a 2-3 out of 10 for an experienced hiker but maybe a 6-7 for a novice. It’s a good workout though and I’d say it was worth the trip!

Loved this hike. We went just before 9am on a Sunday and had it almost to ourselves. Lots more people as we came back down. Fairly steep but at a steady pace it was totally fine and took us 55mins to get to the top, 45mins back down. Views were awesome! Take your bathing suit and jump in garden bay lake for a post hike cool down.

It took me 1 hour to hike up. It is steep but the view makes up for the view.

My dog and I had the most fun climbing up Mount Daniel. Beautiful views and great exercise. Bring tons of water!

Mount Daniel is an excellent short but steep hike with fantastic views across Pender Harbour. There is limited parking and no public facilities, however this often means you will have the place to yourself. The hike starts along an access road and then rapidly ascends across 4km to the peak where you can see all the way out to the open ocean. Wildlife includes woodpeckers and squirrels. It took me only two hours but if you are not particularly experienced I would budget for three! Nature at its best, ferns everywhere.
