Josh Hagen has been coaching my two sons for 7 years, since they were pre-teens and throughout high school. He has been an excellent Judo coach, turning them into athletes with technical skills and a respect for fellow athletes. More than that he has been a role model, teaching them self discipline , focus and helping them to transition into young men.

The best Judo club in all of the GTA and perhaps the province. THe facilities are great and the coach is amazing; he gives everyone specific training depending on their progress.

The Art of Balance Dojo is the perfect place to learn and experience judo. The innovatively designed dojo offers a spacious well-lit training facility, with numerous training aids. I practicised judo as a child, returning many years later to take up the sport with my children. I have had many instructors over the years. Sensei Josh Hagen is an excellent instructor, who has a unique ability to teach and connect with students, from the recreational novice to serious competitors - young and old. He consistently evolves, incorporating new ideas and techniques into the lessons. The senior club members are always willing to offer pointers and share their knowledge. I really enjoy coming to practice. Stephen Lu

Having had years of experience practicing Judo, I've never seen such clean and family managed dojo. From a facilities perspective, this dojo has it all: a gym with enough machines for your needs, a common room designated as a waiting/rest area, and the mata themselves are on a custom springy surface. You won't find a better deal. Trust me, I've tried. And from a technical standpoint, Sensei Josh Hagen is a level 3 coach. That basically means you're getting one of the most technical Judo teachers there is, and technique is everything in this sport.
