Clean and nice to see a fillet table, garbage and hose to clean your catches, I was just not lucky enough to catch anything this time out. The only thing you need to remember if this is you first time out here, you need a separate fishing pass from the township to fish here

Dog loved it even though she doesn't have her fishing license. Shhh, don't tell MNR.

Muddy Dirty Water and Overfished - The township of Essa charges "Non Residents" over 18, a fee for fishing here on top of the Ontario MNR Fishing License. Not sure if anyone actually pays it though as You have to visit some town office to apply for the separate permit. It's hard to believe that the Simcoe County Tourism Fishing brochure lists this place as a fishing hotspot as this is not something they should be proud of since this place is not Visitor friendly. Access to the river is very steep and not possible for those that aren't mobile as it can get muddy in some places. This must makes the double dipping fee/license even more ridiculous, especially since there aren't many fish except during the spring and fall. Go up to Klondike Park in Wasaga Beach near the bridge for a better and free Nottawasaga fishing experience. Jacks Lake in Wasaga is great if you have a Canoe/Kayak/Boat.

Great park for fishing salmon.

A little too busy and overfished for my liking. Very limited access to the river and around the salmon run (right now) it stinks to a disturbing degree. Plus side is I've had great conversations with some of the guys that fish it constantly and have learned a lot about fishing this area.
