Amazing scenery and numerous well maintained trails. Easy two-wheel-drive access to the park entrance, then no motorized vehicles in the park. Tent sites along the Lower Elk Lake within 2km of vehicle parking. Food cache available at the tent sites

Absolutely stunning piece of nature. Hidden gem of Rockies. Beautiful and well maintained trails in area. Easy to see wildlife too (mind the grizzlies as we saw a few). Personally, we found it more spectaculars than the rest of the touristic parts of Rockies.

It is so beautiful... I suggest to visit in winter on the skis and stay overnight at Elk Lakes Cabin. Unique experience! You will remember this moment for the rest of your life. When we were there it was like 10 feet of snow, latest fall 4 feet. We could not believe it! However to get there is quite hard and difficult in winter. Also the cabin is fully booked almost all the time. So you have to have pretty good luck to get spot there. Sleeping very comfortable. Kitchen with everything you might need (dishes and such). In the evening make a fire in a fireplace. Pretty warm and cozy...

Stunning place to visit. We walked from the parking lot to Petain Water Falls at the far end of the second lake. It is a little longer on our GPS than what the hike says. It was approx 19KM round trip, but is mostly an easy hike. The only elevation you run into is near the end by the waterfalls, otherwise it is a rolling path along the lakes.
