I just can’t say enough good things about Courtenay. As a professional performer and vocal coach myself (I have an MA in Musical Theatre Performance and BA in Music), I recently made the choice to go back to singing lessons for the first time in 10 years, and picked Courtenay since I had heard good things and I appreciated his online presence. And BOY am I glad I did!!!! He is professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and passionate — both about staying on top of cutting-edge vocal science, and (more importantly!) about the vocal growth of his students. He was able to diagnose my issues right away and give me practical exercises immediately. He creates a safe space to allow for experimentation without putting any pressure on needing to get things right away - this is crucial for me when picking a teacher. His technological knowledge allows for very efficient online lessons, and he makes everything super user-friendly. I’m learning more with him than I have in my previous 15 years of performing and teaching and my voice is sounding better than I ever believed possible — I strongly advocate Courtenay for any and all levels of voice, especially for those who have prior singing experience and just haven’t been able to access a sustainable mix. At 60 years of age, having never sung in my life, I decided to take up singing! I was lucky to have found Courtenay. He is very patient, encouraging and knowledgeable; 5 years later I am still singing and enjoying every minute. I highly recommend Courtenay as a teacher and coach.

Before working with Courtenay, I had ZERO singing experience..The improvements over the past 3 months taking weekly lessons online have been absolutely astounding! Courtenay is amazing. As a music educator and working musician, it is important for me to find a teacher that takes the time to really understand my goals and learning style. I was a musician in the classical realm for many years, and when I transitioned to Pop I knew right away that Courtenay was the one for me. Not only is he knowledgeable, he practices what he preaches and his portfolio and credentials support his pedagogy. In addition to engaging him in private lessons, we have also brought him in to workshop Canadian Pop Vocal Band: Quayside. I have heard and seen results not only in myself - but in some of his students in a very short period of time.
