Won't let you in to see animal because of covid. Hard to adopt a animal if you can't see

Visited a while ago and found it to be quite unprofessional. Went in and was ignored for about 5 minutes before someone even acknowledged we were there. Went to look at the animals and there were cats walking around the hallway instead of being in the rooms. We had previously looked at a cat online (who was now in foster care) and asked if and how we could go about meeting the cat. The staff there then began being \pushy\ over how we should get a different cat instead of the one we inquired about. After asking about their adoption process they said they would have to do a \financial check\ on us just to make sure that we would even be able to afford the cat. After they found out about our age, which shouldn't really matter, they went on to insinuate that we couldn't afford to neuter/ spay the cat and that they would show up and take it back. Prior to this interaction, we have never even met these people and they do not know us, our financial situation or if we had any other pets. The staff member there had basically told us that we wouldn't be able to take care of the cat and that we shouldn't even put in an application because it would just be a waste of time because it wouldn't even be looked at. Definitely will not be going back here as this is not the first time having a bad experience. Rude staff, and very unprofessional. Really makes it hard to adopt cats when you're told that you probably couldn't afford to take care of it just because you're 19 years old. We work, live on our own, and have another cat at home who is well taken care of. Just because we were young we were turned away. From a place that is constantly overrun by cats, don't you think that despite our \young age\, we should at least be considered to adopt? I understand the need to be thorough in looking at the people who want to adopt these animals but I feel bad for the ones that wont be adopted into good homes, simply because of the staff and their obvious views on young people.

The SPCA thrift store is a cozy little spot to find that unique something and help the animals at the same time.
