My wife and I were directed to see Lucy Fraser for grief counseling shortly after our daughter passed away. Lucy started the meeting off professionally enough by asking our names and the date of our daughter's passing. However, she was smiling at us when she gave her condolences for our loss – which we found incredibly off-putting. The reason we came to see a grief counselor was so to make sure that our coping mechanisms weren’t self-destructive and to ensure that we were handling our grief in a positive manner. Unfortunately, we instead received a full hour of non-answers and very wishy-washy advice regarding what some people may or may not do to grieve. Half an hour into the session she began peddling voodoo magic and reiki healing, which she and the staff performed at the hospice. She also promoted her friends who also practiced voodoo magic at nearby locations. It should be noted that this organization is run by volunteers. That being said, if Lucy is any indication, then these people clearly do not comprehend the grieving process. We asked for information on healthy and unhealthy coping methods and she wasn’t able to provide us with any concrete examples. They are more interested in peddling spiritual nonsense then helping people through their processes. If you’re going through any form of loss, then you would be better off hiring a professional than wasting your time sitting through one of their sessions. You get what you pay for…
